Church Women United

Church Women United (CWU) is a new interest of mine. A lovely group of Christian, Jewish and Islamic Women united under one God. Our state meeting was about Serving God Together. Several great speakers including Pastor Becky Robbins-Penniman who serves a combination Lutheran and Episcopal congregration. Elizabeth Coleman from "Bread for the World" an advocasy organization and Samar Dahmash Jarrah a Muslim a professor at University of South Florida and others. Principle Presenter was Rev. Dr. Joan Brown Campbell Executive Director of the National Council of Churches and Director of the US Office of the World Council of Churches.
102 were in attendance. A Silent Auction was held as a fund raiser. For two half and one full day this is just a note of the excitement and fellowship we experienced.

Stephen Ministry

On Saturday March 29 we started a new Stephen Ministry Class for our church. There are five committed men and women. Committed to 50 hours of instruction then a minimum of 2 years serving our congregation. Each one is involved with other services to our church. They will make wonderful ministers. The Stephen Ministry is a confidental caregiving ministry to those in recovering from some of the hazards of life. It is great to be a part of this caring.

New Blogger with High Hopes

I am involved with several Christian Groups at a grassroot level. ie: Church Women United (CWU), Stephen Ministry (SM), and Lutheran World Relief (LWR). I will post my different activities in these organizations and hope others will note what they are doing in their faith based organizations. there are other Christian Orangizations I would like to know more about.

Just finished coordinating the LWR pickup of quilts (5650) and kits of various types in the state of Florida. There were 34333 pounds assembled into 1691 cartons and shiped to the Maryland warehouse. It was great to realize the fellowship experienced in putting these items together and the care it will give to those in need
